Richard D. James, better known as Aphex Twin, photographed in 2001, photographer currently unknown. The image, archived online under the title “Resting in the armchair,” catches James during the year of Drukqs, his sprawling 30-track Aphex Twin album released through Warp in October 2001.
Photographed by Philadelphia based visual artist and director Aaron Ricketts, this lesser known 2026 series with Suki Baby strips everything down to the essentials. Shot against a stark white backdrop, the set leans on simple styling, handheld cameras, and warped reflective surfaces to create something that feels equal parts fashion editorial and behind the scenes experiment. Ricketts, a Tyler School of Art graduate and U.S. Air Force veteran, has worked with clients including Vogue, Adidas, Universal Music Group, and BET, bringing the same cinematic approach seen in his commercial work into this overlooked session.
What stands out here is the tension between polish and spontaneity. Rather than chasing spectacle, the shoot captures Sukii Baby in a more playful, off the cuff environment, letting the framing and distortions do most of the heavy lifting. It is a small but memorable piece of both artists’ archives and another example of the kind of work that often slips through the cracks of the internet.
